Supernatural Sites in Japan

Happy spring, Supernatural Japan listeners.

As the number of podcast listeners continues to grow, I am receiving more messages, stories, and even requests.

Last week, I received an email from a listener who was heading to Tokyo on a business trip. They mentioned they planned to visit a few spots featured on the podcast, such as the Sunshine 60 Building and Jokan-ji Temple. They had a great idea! Why not create a Google Map with locations from the podcast's episodes?

I thought this was a great idea. After watching a few short video tutorials, I figured out how to make a Google Map.

I started at Episode 1, the Sennichi-mae Department Store fire. This location is the current Bic Camera in Shinsaibashi in Osaka, Japan, and I worked my way through the playlist to the most recent episode. Of course, not all episodes have specific locations connected to them.

Each map pin includes a bit of the location's history and/or the episode description, along with a link to the episode on Spotify. I also added some photos.

Some locations involved a great deal of internet sleuthing. Some were challenging to find, and I found the challenge a lot of fun. I learned that some locations, such as the Kaizuka Sanitarium and the Akasaka Love Motel, have been demolished and are now empty lots. I, of course, still added those locations as they are significant to Japanese spooky lore.

I added a link to the Supernatural Japan Google Map to my Instagram bio, have shared it on social media, and you can, of course, find the link here.

Bookmark this resource, and if you are in Japan now or plan to travel there, use it!

This map is, of course, evolving as new episodes appear!
